Iceland<\/b>\u00a0(Icelandic:\u00a0\u00cdsland)<\/i>\u00a0is a\u00a0Nordic\u00a0island country\u00a0in the\u00a0North Atlantic Ocean\u00a0and the most\u00a0sparsely populated country\u00a0in\u00a0Europe.<\/sup>\u00a0Iceland\u2019s\u00a0capital\u00a0and largest city is\u00a0Reykjav\u00edk, which (along with its surrounding areas) is home to over 65% of the population. Iceland is the only part of the\u00a0Mid-Atlantic Ridge\u00a0that rises\u00a0above sea level, and its central\u00a0volcanic plateau\u00a0is\u00a0erupting almost constantly<\/sup><\/p>

The interior consists of a plateau characterized by sand and lava fields,\u00a0mountains, and\u00a0glaciers, and many\u00a0glacial rivers\u00a0flow to the sea through the\u00a0lowlands. Iceland is warmed by the\u00a0Gulf Stream\u00a0and has a temperate climate, despite a high latitude just outside the\u00a0Arctic Circle. Iceland is an associate member of the Schengen Agreement,\u00a0which exempts travelers from personal border controls between\u00a022 EU countries. For residents outside the Schengen area, a valid\u00a0passport is required for at least three months beyond date of\u00a0entry.<\/p>

Medical care can be obtained by visiting\u00a0 a Health care centre. Citizens of EEA countries must bring their EHIC card (European Health Insurance Card), otherwise they will be charged in full. The Icelandic monetary unit is kr\u00f3na (ISK). You can use all major credit card in Iceland. As cash is seldom used in Iceland we recommend that you do not exchange currency or withdraw Icelandic cash from an ATM. (ATM\u00a0 = Hra\u00f0banki)

When travelling in Iceland you may notice an \u201ceggy\u201d smell when running hot water that is simply a naturally occurring smell from the geothermal water source. As for drinking water, it is perfectly safe to drink water from the tap in Iceland and we are known to have the best water in the world.<\/p>

Iceland is privileged with many natural resources and geothermal water is one of them, filling our natural hot springs, nature pools, swimming pools and baths all around the country. We recommend that you go for a swim at least one time during your stay in Iceland.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
